Landslide stabilisation of the Macrì-Colletta streams

Mitigation of hydrogeological risk caused by landslides along the Macrì-Colletta streams, whose beds were degraded and whose bank-protection works were damaged. The works favoured soil-bioengineering solutions and low-impact construction techniques, improving bank stability and water flow.

- Counter hydrogeological instability and bank erosion
- Improve the hydraulic performance of the stream beds and water flow
- Restore the functionality of the damaged bank-protection works
- Reduce hydrogeological vulnerability and safeguard the morphological stability of the beds
Technical solutions
- Clearing of the stream beds from invasive vegetation and flow-obstructing materials
- Stepped gabion check dams with stilling basin and counter-dam
- Restoration of existing gabion works and bank-protection structures
- Crushing of large rock blocks lying in the stream bed
- Upgrading of farm tracks and access roads to the work areas
